Depends on how you're traveling. Train or car is fine for shorter distances. We were going from Vienna to Dusseldorf by car or overnight train when I found this airline called "Air Berlin" and we got adult tickets for 19 Euros (47 Euros including taxes and fuel)! We saved time and money. Berlin is great, but 7 days is a lot for it...

You could do some day trips from Berlin, like to the WW2 concentration camp in Sachsenhausen; Dresden is nice, and you could go to Prague for a couple of days. Poland is not so far from Berlin; you could go to the border town at Gorlitz, just over the river, so you can say you went to Poland, too. But that's enough for 7 days.
