How is it possible to weigh water when you need a container to put it in to weigh it, wont the container throw off the end value? roflz

You have to tare the container. This means that you weigh the empty container so you can subtract that from the weight of container plus water.

In Wegman's olive bars, the plastic containers have code numbers on them. The cashier keys in the code number, and the cash register subtracts the weight of the container.

ha i just leanred about this...first you wiegh a graduated silinder then you put however much water you want in it then wight it again (ps. you would weigh it on tripple beam balance) and then subtract what yoo got
