Does anyone know when the last comet came that could be seen in the US and when the next one is predicted to come?

Naked-eye comets are mostly unpredictable visitors from the Oort cloud. Sometimes we get a few months' advance notice, though it's difficult to predict how bright a comet will get when it approaches the Sun.

There was Comet McNaught in January, and comet 17/P Holmes visible right now in the constellation Perseus. Here's a finder chart for Holmes:

There is a comet now in the evening sky you can see a few hoursw after sunset. Check out www.skyandtelescope.com for directions of how to locate it.
