Im not really sure but I think you want to be above groung level and under something sturdy, so if something falls it breaks the fall instead of you breaking its fall, or the fall breaking you.

very rare and small where i live. would freak out if it happened here.LOL (I live in the middle of the US w/ only 1-2 fault lines over 200 miles from where i live)
