Motorcycle laws are pretty much prarallel to those regarding driver's licenses. In Louisiana, I believe the minimum age is 18. You'll have to show insurance ownership proof and motorcycle ownership proof as well.
Get a helmet: Kathleen Blanco threw out former Governor Mike Foster's OK to ride w/out helmets. Doubts exist Bobby Jindal will rescind her stand on the issue.

The safest thing to do is put in a call to Louisiana Department of Public Safety.
They will be able to give you accurate information.
The problem is that I got my Louisiana license 45 years ago when I was 15, time has way of changing things, however.

I believe your elible at the same time as a regular DL but like the first I am not certain Nor could I be the way they sneak law around in this state
