first off, how does mother know you lost your virginity? did she catch you inserting a tampon or does she check you regularly? anyhow, if you have never had penile penetration, technically you are a virgin. you might have a tough time convincing your first love, that you are pure. also, maybe it is still in there just shifted or something. i don't know this is a touchy situation and makes me feel funny to talk about. take care.

Thats not true at all. Your mom is dead wrong. She worried that you broke your hymen. but thats not what virginity is. You are a virgin until you have sex. You can't lose it to a stick of cotton.
Unfortunetely there are still some people who think you have to have an intact hymen to be a virgin. But thats just not true. There are lots of ways to break a hymen and only one way to not be a virgin anymore.
