Where does the history channel get the idea that nostradmus predicted the end of the world in 2012? Did he really say that the world will end in 2012 or is it an interpretation by some weird author/scholor or person who came up with the idea that he is hinting towards 2012?

Plus do u know anything about this lost book supposldey from him that contains "prophetic" images of the future?

He never predicted the end of the world. His predictions end at the year 3797 which some people interpret as that being when the world will end. I think he was just a silly man who wrote down so many passages that some could be interpreted as such and such event, which caused him to become famous. History repeats itself quite often and the passages he wrote were very vague. Example:

"The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death."

Which could be anything. The lost book supposedly contains images so horrid that it was hidden/lost. "In 1994, Italian journalist Enza Massa was at the Italian National Library in Rome conducting research on old texts, when she stumbled upon an unusual find in its stacks; a mysterious manuscript dating to 1629. The name of the book was surprising: NOSTRADAMUS VATINICIA CODE. "

He's good for a bit of fun though.

Nostradamus predicted the end of the world would come in the latter half of the 3000's. I think the history channel is fusing his "prophecies" with the Maya "Doomsday" prophecy. The Maya calender puts the end of the world on December 21st 2012. But we also do not know if this is the end of the world or merely a rebirth of sorts. Or hell it might not be either one the calender may just start again.

It has to do with the stars lining up in a certain way. They didn't exactly give the date 2012 but instead a time frame 1993-2012 which is pretty close to some jewish prophecies that say that God plans the end of time in 1993 but decided to give more time and then gave 2013 as the end time.

One of the pictures shows a certain pattern of eclipses. Something about 3 partial eclipses surrounded by a lunar eclpse. The possible dates where this could occur ranges from 1992-2012.
