Do you use the thumb down button?
Be honest:is it because
(a) You disagree with the answer
or
(b) You don't like the poster.
I myself don't use it unless it is really needed (trolls)
Same as the report button.I don't see why people find the need to use it through spite.

Only if I really disagree with the poster. It is never in a personal manner like I think a lot of people do on here.

I always give thumbs up to the people that answer my question as they have taken time to answer it, unless they are downright abusive or rude and then I just ignore them.

I dont report people for the sake of reporting them. I think that is truly pathetic

I have used the report button twice. Each time, because I thought the answer was offensive/ not suitable for young people, or just downright rude and offensive.

If I think an answer is from a political activist who is trying to score points, I give it a thumbs down.

If I think an answer is well thought out and is a serious answer to the question, I would probably give it a thumbs up.

Never use the thumbs down, never use the report button, I see no point, I have my own idea about what I think is right and wrong in the world. Posters on here will not change my views on what I believe but they ae free to try.
If dont agree i will reply and tell them so, if they are abusive, then they get abuse in return.

Everyone has a point of view, I see no point in reporting anyone for having a different point of view to your own.

My only action which I feel a little guilty about is blocking posters who ask questions about the mcthingemybobs but i just dont see that they and myself have anything in common which could hold either of us in a conversation.

Because I disagree with the answer - I have found that I disagree with some posters on some issues but agree with them on other issues - Kamran is an example. I genuinely don't hate anyone of Yahoo, I would have to know far more about a person than just their opinion on a few issues to hate them and even then I don't honestly think I hate anyone.

Once I answer a question, I look at the other answers if any and respond in a manner that is acceptable to my own interpretations.
Criteria, Offensive to ANYONE, Racist, totally off the mark and just rude.
I personally try to answer all questions in a pertinent way.
Trying to help the asker deal with whatever issue they are having.
If it's a general question, I try to answer factually.
If I believe the question is idiotic, I'll say so.
My answers got bounced twice because I said that.
If I find a question interesting I'll star it, and give my objective opinion.
That's just my code of ethics.
Rick

I wouldn't use the thumbs down because of a divergence of opinion, but I would if I knew or could prove it was factually incorrect, or worse still. deliberately misleading.

I am free and easy with my thumbs up though!

The report button I've only used for a couple of spammers. Doesn't seem much point to use it against trolls and extremists - they'll only set another account up and come back.

I wish they would get rid of these silly buttons, it only serves to get peoples backs up and at the end of the day you don't get a point so why bother...
people get so het up and passionate on here I have never seen anything like it ....

Makes no difference to me whether I like the poster or not if I agree with them, I thumb up their answer. I do occasionally thumb down some answers when I strongly disagree.

I have used the report button for extreme personal attacks or for questions and answers that sound perverted in reference to children.
