Um, it depends on the question. Serious questions get serious answers, funny questions (i.e. "I think my neighbor is a turtle") get funny answers.

I am selective in choosing questions to answer !
Occasionally I am in the mood to use a little humor---
because I have done stand up comedy and have
written musical comedies for the Theatre ---
But mostly I choose questions where people are asking
for help and I have 90 + years of experience in living
life to the fullest and I want to help others---
So I put a lot of thought into my answers and spend
a lot of time on them because it is my way to write
and phrase things well so that the recipient will
enjoy reading it ----
even if I don't help them !
I am more cautious now that I have been accused of
"violating" ---I have no idea why ---!!!
because I read the
Rules ---and I have been reading English since I was
2 years old (starting with the comics) then went on
to Charles Dickens, Chaucer, the Bronte Sisters,Oscar
Wilde,All of Shakespeares works ,Checkov, Henrik Ibsen
Somerset Maugham,John dos Passos,John Steinbeck,
Scott Fitzgerald,Ernest Hemingway, Noel Coward,
Proust,Henry James, Longfellow,Wadsworth,the Bible,
the Koran,Keats,Shelley,Emily Dickenson,William Blake,
Coleridge,Robert Burns,and thousands of others ---
also have seen about half of the films made beginning
with "Birth of the Nation" and including all from De Sica
and Le Comedie Francais (Jean Gabin,Francoise Rose)
so, as Hamlet said " I can tell a Hawk from a Handsaw"
or so I thought ---better read the rules again !

Depends on the question. If it's serious I usually take the time to answer it. If the person has a funny or joking question then the first thing that comes to mind.

If someone is asking a serious question with legitimate and sincere content - I do think about it and respond only if I have experience and knowledge in that area. However, if someone puts a wacky question, gross question or one that is really a smear of a people group rather than a question I do tend to say the first thing that comes to mind and let them just know how I feel about that.

It depends on the question. Some just want a one word answer like in the polls or surveys. Others really are seriously looking for help or advice. Those require thought, which many posters seem unwilling to spend their time on. I personally like to help those who are honestly seeking it.

if you know what to say right away, then yes. Otherwise, i take my time and if i am including any factual information i look it up on the net first. You're trying to help so i always give good advice, never things that won't help them.
