No it isn't seedy.......... yes there are some s3x shops there, as you would find in most cities. Wenceslas Square was a bit of a disappointment to me, so head off the square (lots of mainstream shops and cars) towards the old town and their town square you will find a very beautiful city. The clock in the square is definately something to see, when it hits the hour the chimes go and little statues come out. There are some great little restaurants around there too.
The Charles Bridge is very beautiful and we have some lovely photo's of us along it. Also we took a horse and carriage ride around the cobbled streets and it was lovely.
The old city is fairly small so I would suggest walking, most of my little treasured finds in the European cities are found by wandering down all the little side alleys. You find the best places this way. There were a wonderful traditional toy shop which was so whimsical I loved it.
Buy a lonely planet guide book, this is what we did and it gives you an insight into the places off the beaten track.
Enjoy and have a great time!

Prague, like any other city, has its seedy side, but I've been there twice and enjoyed it a lot both times. There are lots of places that are not seedy.
My advice: stop listening to what people are saying and go do your own research. I would strongly suggesting investing in a good guide to Prague, so far the best travel guide books I've found are the DK Eyewitness guides. Once you have this, you don't need to come to Answers and get what's secondhand information filtered down by hearsay from drunks over there on stag parties.
Trust me, after 2 visits to Prague with my husband, I can tell you that there is much much more to Prague than stag parties.

Please dint be put off Prague by the reports you have heard. My husband and i have been to Prague five times now and having got engaged on Charles bridge chose it as our wedding venue this year. Its a beautiful city with plenty to see and do, must do's are Charles Bridge for the experience and the status of the saints - The old town square complete with the astronomical clock a sight to be seen on the hour - the old synagogue in the Jewish quarter is beautiful and so very sad once you know the history. Of an evening avoid the bars catering for the English and selling imported beer, the Czech beer is very cheap tasty and almost everywhere speaks English. Visit the restaurant Reykjavik if you get the chance its Icelandic and is run by the wife of the Icelandic consulate to Prague. Lastly don't forget a hat and some warm clothes as its quite chilly in November. Enjoy its beautiful

I couldn't walk 2 yards in Prague without gypsie drug dealers openly offering "Hash, Charlie", or hookers greeting my friends and I with the rather snappy line of "sex b**w j*b". But that was 3 years ago maybe it's different now. It's a beautiful city. Make sure to visit the museum of medieval torture devices while you're there. And a bar called Popo Cafe Petl it has a good music policy. I had a good time in Prague.

im going with my husband in december . i have heard that its a beautiful city. everyone speaks english. there is so much to see you will need a week there , beer is 70 pence a pint. buy a 3 day bus ticket .it covers everything and its cheap. ive not heard any bad reports about it. not a word about it being seedy. i think you will have a good time. ive just read in a travel guide that in spite of a small increase in petty crime i.e pickpockets prague is still safer than most western citys. have fun

Prague has been considered as one of the very most wonderful towns in the world since Middle Ages and you understand maybe not eliminate the opportunity to view it, with hotelbye . Adjectives such as “golden“, “city of 100 spires“, “the crown of the world“ were related to Prague and for a reason. The Historic Centre of Prague that has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992 and with its 866 hectares is the largest historic town middle with this list in the world and this really is one of the lovely places Prague needs to offer.

Well it didn't seem seedy when I went but be aware of travelling on the trams. There are a lot of pickpockets on the trams that target foreigners.
