Mine will be 13 months old, so its more or less her first Christmas. Based on my previous experience with my son I'd suggest putting all that money in a college savings account and just giving her a bunch of boxes to play with. Because trust me, it doesn't matter what's inside the box, she'll be playing with the box. We're getting the bounce and spin zebra for our daughter, its about $35 bucks, and I have no doubt that she will get hours of pleasure out of the box it comes in.

Hi,
the present isn't half as important as the fact, that you should be spending a lot of time with your little one on this special day. you should do something special, too. Something that you normally don't do. Something, that makes this day a special day for your daughter.
Unfortunately she won't be able to remember her first christmas, as she grows up. But you could make something for her, that she can look at, afterwards, when she gets older, maybe take some photographs on the day and stick them into a nice album and write some words into it, maybe a little bit like a diary, with your own memories and feelings in it.
I wish you a very special xmas with your lil one!

Isn't that exciting?! I can still remember my son's first christmas. He was 9 months old then. I didn't have a specific amount save. All we do was went to the mall and met Santa! Gee, that was fun! Other babies his age and some older were scared of Santa. Not my baby. He posed and try to pull Santa's beard! All I got him that time were clothes and his dad got him toys. He enjoyed opening presents that christmas morning. You hand him his present and like everybody in the room, he tore the wrapper up yo open his presents. Make sure to take lots of pics and video. Congrats and good luck!!

It will be my baby's first x mas too. Mine will only be 3 months old so I really am just going to buy some clothes and toys that make noise and light up so when he is a little older he can play with it. My nephew loved to watch The Backyardagins, The Wonder Pets, and Dora. My sister in law got him tons of DVDs of them and she bought a DVD player and screne that hooked on the back seat of the car. Now he is quiet when ever they go out. It is like a present for you too!!

aww, it's going to be my sons first Christmas too! but he'll only be 5 and a half months old. But I'm soo excited for him to see all the lights on the Christmas tree!!
(I live in California, so he won't be getting to experience a white Christmas ... no snow for us :(
But I'm getting him a stocking with his name on it .. and my mother in law is having an ornament made with his picture in a hollogram ornament, it's really neat! it says, "Babys First Christmas" .. and then each year after that we are going to make him a special ornament with his picture so we can see how big he's grown over the years :)
As for gifts, he's getting something he can be mobile in (like an Exercauser) .. some light up toys, one of those wind up things that say different things like, "cow goes moo, dog goes woof, etc." ..
Plenty of stuffed animals .. and any other little goodies I can find at Babies R Us! :)
Happy Holidays! sounds like you're just as excited as I am for babies first Christmas!
Enjoy! God bless!

it's exciting to celebrate the first Christmas, but I recommend not going overboard on stuff. Depending on how many people are buying her gifts, she may get overwhelmed. Last year my daughter was more excited about the wrapping paper than the gifts. Other parents suggested to me 1 present for every year old they are.
Just get her what she needs- a walker to wagon/car to aid her walking which is right around the corner. My daughter (17 months) still plays with hers.

My son's also and he will be 9 months old. I'm not sure what I'll get him, but what I am going to do to remember it is I got him a cute little red santa's little helper shirt, black pants, and little red santa boots. I'm taking him to Sears for a cute Xmas picture. I want to try to find a little santa hat too.
I plan to have a huge tree with lots of lights and lots of presents under the tree. I want him to be able to rip open lots of gifts. I don't think he will remember this Xmas but I plan to take lots of pictures...He loves bright colors so I'm sure when he sees the tree and all the gifts for the first time he will be in heaven! I can't wait to spend the morning with him.

Do whatever you want. You know that this is for you. Because a 10 month old will not have any memories of the event. Toys will not last a year, and she will enjoy one of the cardboard boxes that the gifts come in the most.
If you actually want to do something for your daughter, instead of yourself, use the money to start her college fund.
