If scholars knew the answer to where he was and what he was doing, then this period of his life wouldn't be "lost", would it?
Many many people's histories have blank periods in them. Especially historical characters from the times when our every move wasn't documented by ATM machines, video surveillance cameras, voters' records, and credit card bills...

We know, very little about Shakespeare, life during 2 majors spans of time, commonly referred to as the lost years1578-82 and 1585-92 the first period after he left grammar school; until his marriage to Anne- Hathaway in November, of 1582. The second period covers the 7 years of his life in wich he must have been perfecting his , dramatic skills and collecting sources for the plots of his plays.

There are many theories of william shakespere like people thinking he didn't even write the plays and others like Edward deVere might have and his uneducation and "lost years" attribute to that. But as for the lost years it happened like 1000 years ago and if there are no records then we don't know and no one does. But with a little research you could probably find a few good theories or make some yourself.
