The fact is, any professional salesman knows how to ask a question in such a manner as to encourage you to give him the answer he wants.
Those asking the questions when conducting polls will do the same.
When they get the answers they want, they then report them as NEWS.
That furthers THEIR cause by distorting reality.
Yes, the polls are well disguised lies.

statistics are unreliable to base any decisions we make about our lives, because you can take a statistics and spin it anyway you want.

and when they state statistics they seldom show how they came up with the numbers, what methodlogy was used in the research etc. many times when they want to show something they will remove those facts or methods that take away from it.

so what that really means is statistics are frequently used to lie to people, so as to deceive or manipulate them for their own ends.
