i'm 15, too young for a job, we have no money right now and i havent gone shopping in probably 7 months which is kind of new for me, and there is a pair of shoes calling my name. im not spoiled or anything, i live in a townhouse in a crappy suburb and both of my parents are programmers. but my mom loves to splurge so i got kind of used to going shopping every few months or so. and i havent went for a while and i'm dying to get these shoes :(

are there any jobs for 15 year olds? cant i work at barnes and noble or something?

I think it's a great idea that you find a job so you can buy shoes or what ever. It's an excellent way to learn that money doesn't come that easy and you will appreciate the things you buy more.

At 15 you might be able to get a job in fast food or at the mall. Laws vary from state to state. But you can alway babysit to earn money. Or odd jobs around your neighborhood -- mow grass, rake leaves, shovel snow, walk dogs, wash cars. wash windows, etc. You could collect alum cans -- I know someone who recently made $75 collecting cans for a few months.

eve, i think you should take this time to get a good perspective on how you view money, material possessions, and instant gratification. why would you consider getting a job just to afford some shoes? enjoy your non-working years. take this as a chance to teach yourself that you can delay gratification to increase your quality of life. meaning, is a pair of shoes worth giving up your free time with friends, your time to do homework, or your weekends? i would assume that they are not. sure, they are cute shoes, but if you start behaving now as though wanting something should equal having it right now, then you are setting yourself up for financial misery and debt. learn from your mom's bad habits and recognize your propensity for the same. you're only job right now is school. keep it that way.
