Totalitarianism is a general term that refers to any government in which the state has unlimited authority and the the rights of individuals are entirely without protection. Thus, it is a dictatorship--but the term implies a total control of all aspects of society--social and economic as well as political.

Communism is a specific form of social organization --both economic and political. There is a political state that has unlimited authority--but also takes complet control of economic matters, abolishing private property and market exchange.

In Marx's utopian vision this was merely a transition to an ideal society in which al would be free and each would contribute according to their talents and ability, and all would be provided what they needed.

In practice, of course, once a communist dictatorship gains control, the elite (those who have hthe power) never voluntarily relinquish control. EVERY communist state that has ever existed has degenerated into a totalitarian state and remained that way until its eventual collapse or the overthrow of the ruling dictatorship. The only exceptions are purely technicalities--North Korea, Cuba, etc.--where regime change has not yet occured.

Totalitarianism: Dictatorial, authoritarian, autocratic, despotism, and a tyrannical government. A state government that has all or total power leaving the people no checks or balances against the excesses of dictatorship.

Communism: Revolutionary socialism, revolutionary collectivism. It advocates dictatorship as a means to consolidate communism It supports taking over private property for public use without just compensation paid for it.
It preaches a utopia of a perfect society with no government when given the proper time and setting. Of course the proper time never arrives!

Communism IS Totalitarianism, just NOT the only one.
The only way people will take care of the lazy and worthless in their midst is to be forced to do that.
Remember the "Famine" in Ethiopia back in the mid 80s? Most people were left thinking that was caused by nature, the lack of rainfall. Wrong, that was caused by a Communist/Socialist/Totalitarian government forcing the people from their privately owned farms onto State Collective Farms. Each time the experiment fails, there is always some more Leftists wanting to recreate the experiment. This is a sure sign of insanity.

Totalitarianism is a state that is totally ruled by a single national government, often with one leader. Communism is an economic concept that puts all production of all goods and services in the hands of the workers, with all persons, ideally having an equal share. In a totalitarian state, all profit flows to the top, the government. In a Communist state all profit, and loss is shared by all of the governed.

Get rich quick schemes in the capitalist business world, (buyouts, IPOs, conglomerates, acquisitions, mergers, and the stock market), do not actually work. Remaining solvent does not actually exist within false economics capitalism.

Profit existing in the capitalist business world, or millionaires existing within capitalism, is pathological deception committed by the 21 organizations spying on the population with plain clothes agents, (with covert fake names and fake backgrounds).

Actual economics is the persons paying the monthly business loan payments of companies voting at work in order to control the property they are paying for.

Capitalism is the psychology of imaginary parents, false economics, and the criminal deception of employees that are paying the bills (including the stocks and bonds, or shares) of companies.

Anti-democracy republicanism is the psychology of imaginary parents, and false government.

In a sense, communism is the "what is yours, is ours to use as we see fit for the population of our nation" aspect. A 2/3 percentage of your goods is given to the government or is made for the government without your complaint because the government says so. Totalitarianism is the "what is yours is mine and I don't care because if you whine, I'll have the troops beat you senseless and I'll take your house, your wife, your kids, your goods, and I'll charge you for their upkeep.

totalitariansim is a system of government that all power is centralized under an authority that exercises complete control over all aspects of life.

communism is an economic system with decentralized ownership, more commonly referred to as collective ownership and organization of labor for the benefit of all.

communism usually becomes controlled by a government that tends to seek centralization of power, hence the reason so many people mistake communism for totalitariansim.

national socialism? many of the worst people in history were heads of such states. communism started out as one of these powers....lenin lied to the people, of course, but stalin proved that it was. national socialism (nazi party) was another example. and it really seems like the rightist conservative party is another.
