liberals believe in questioning the government (as the forefathers wanted us to do), and making sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing and following the constitution.

whereas conservatives are against questioning the government, and prefer to follow it blindly, even if what it is doing is unconstitutional. good example: i just saw someone post that they would support war in iraq if and only if our military leaders deemed it necessary. this is the difference: liberals think for themselves, conservatives prefer to follow their leader blindly

I Laugh, i don't think you understnad what it means to "question the government". it means to keep them in check. that does not mean the system is inherently flawed, or that they are incapable of running health care.

I think it's an oversimplification of a complex picture, but yes it does paint some of the current problems in broad strokes.

Nah, I don't agree at all.

Conservatives and liberals both display an unfounded faith in government, just in different topics.

Liberals rarely ponder the effects of such things as how a mortgage bailout will lower the value of the dollar and make housing in general less affordable. Generally, so long as someone proposes spending money for someone in need, liberals don't bother with unintended consequences and side-effects. The same goes for minimum wage, universal health insurance, or the obsession with CO2 when dozens of mutagens and carcinogens are being pumped out by "green" companies like GE.

Obviously, you see how conservatives blindly accept war, Patriot Act, or religiously inspired legislation, so I don't need to ramble on about that one.

Libertarians are the ones who are always questioning government. Conservatives and liberals are the ones who think government can solve all the problems caused by human nature - they just disagree on what sort of things the government should be fixing first.

No, not in anyway! I questioned Clinton all the time wherein liberals still follow him blindly and think that whatever he did/does is perfectly wonderful. In this particular case, the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals think that whatever this country, particularly this administration, does is wrong and evil whereas conservatives love the country and support what we need to do to be free and safe.

I laugh! I understand your question perfectly and I wish you were correct in that liberals only question the government to "keep it in check" to make sure that the government does it what it's supposed to do. Republican administrations, according to liberals, are never able to "keep the government in check" and never do what their supposed to do. In contrast, when there's a Democrat administration, liberals think that they are doing a fine job simply because they are Democrats and liberals never question them. Never. And they resent and condemn those who do.

You've missed the differences by a mile. You need to take Political Science 101. Liberals like a big, controlling government to take care of all their problems. Conservatives want government to get out of their way so they can live their lives to the fullest, as the founding fathers intended.

Not even close but if that is what makes you sleep at night then run with it
conservatives believe in peoples ability to achieve- they believe in safety nets but not dependency as a way of life.
Liberals believe that people need government inorder to achieve even though they themselves may have achieved alone- must be because they are so much smarter than everyone else

Conservatives are doing their best to save America despite heavy opposition from liberals. Liberals,on the other hand, despite their adamant and tiresome rhetoric, won't be happy until America is nothing but a deep whole in the ground. Pretty big difference in policies here.

No, your contrast is a bit skewed. A conservative government is one that is small, has very little power and generally serves the people and their interests. A liberal government tends to take a wide view of the Constitution and allows for more diverse interpretations of the law.

I think that is a good synopsis.

I haven't seen a lot of conservatives do a lot of questioning. Mostly, I've seen a lot of attacks from that side. Conversely, I've seen mostly reasoning based approaches from the liberal side. A reason based approach means you have to question. That said, I have seen a lot more attacks coming from both sides lately though and I think that's because conservatives want to argue that way. Then you forget the issues and just call people names.

Liberals question parts of the government that they don't agree with, as do conservatives.

Liberals like to question everything. Leaders, traditions, whatever. Those are good things because without a willingness to change, society would have never improved.
