we were all over rome, firenze,athens, etc and saw some beggars with deformites but besides that no sign flyers or zombie druggies or wandering homeless kids as we are loaded up with here in portland oregon. does anyone have any facts or know why this is......are we suckers and feel guilty for their situation so in one way or another condone it...

I live part-time in Budapest and know that there are many homeless there who sleep down in the subway stations.
Perhapes the problem doesn't seem as bad overseas because people have more family around to help them when they are down then we do here in such a big country where families are so spread out.

Because that is a liberal concept, caring for the less fortunate in society, and the US is not a liberal society. Ironic isn't it that the country that is filled with so many self-acclaimed christians allows such circumstances to exist.
