I really need help to figure out how to do the two questions above and Id really like to know how to solve them and not just get the answer so can someone please help explain them to me?

(1) Knowing PS is 19 and QS is 10 gives you PQ is 9.
Since PQ is half of PR, PR is 18.
Since PR is half of PT, PT is 36.
So ST is PT - PS which is 36 - 19 = 17

(2)Total time would be one minute, plus cost divided by cost per minute for the remaining minutes:
Time = [(555 - x)/y] + 1
The choices in your pic are fuzzy, but the correct answer should be equivalent to the above.
