I just feel like sitting back, and watching all these crazy people running around in circles, driving themselves nuts --
and their problems are all of their own making most of the time!
Then they want to gripe and moan about how rough they have it ... and I find it funny!
So, yes - I find it rather peaceful NOT to be caught-up in the rat race. It's like Lily Tomlin said:
"Even if you win the rat race, you're STILL a rat!" Ha! Ha! x)

The worst part is that I feel like that I'm being pulled in so many different directions in the middle of that circle. Everybody wants and needs something, but don't think that maybe I need something too. It isn't much either.

I want to be moving and going somewhere, but not round in circles. That is just getting nowhere fast. But if my only choice is running in circles or being alone in the center, I'll be alone in the center. I actually like my own company.

When I was a kid -- always. It frustrated the hell out of me because my parents could never get out of that cycle. The most valuable thing I learned was how NOT to do things.
