THERE IS A LEAK(otherwise it wouldn't be wet would it?)
When was the last time it was exposed to water? Puddle, car wash? And it is under the carpet in the padding underneath, right? Check 2 places - 1. rear strut mounts(behind rear seat and where they fasten to the body. Pull off the rubber boots on the tops and pull back the carpet(which is glued) somewhere you will see rust. That is a perforation(rust hole) from the outside wheel well).
-2. under the doors. Is the rubber seal on the door still intact or is it frayed or missing when it comes up to actually sealing the door closed when closed. Water could be getting in that way. Takes forever to dry. Use a pistol hairdryer on the underlay.

Could be coming in anywhere, the lowest part of your car floor is the rear footwells. Water will always find it's own level.
How do you know you have no leaks? Have you water tested the car? You will have to sit inside the car while someone sprays a hose over the car starting from the roof/windows etc. and working their way down round the door gaps/trunk etc.Leaks can be tricky to diagnose Good luck! The water could have been there a while.

that bottle of water your friend shoved under the front passenger seat just started leaking and pour to the back footwell.

hmmmmm thats a pretty good question. it could be the radiator, or the water but all that is in front of the car. you may or could have a small whole in the roof of the car.

You don't say whether it is a saloon or estate. Could be your rear washer pipe has a leak.
