Never heard of 23 is a golden year. People only talk about golden years after they retired. Maybe this is a joke that your friends talking about. I heard "sweet 16" or people celebrate 21 is when they can legally drink :-).

I suppose it because you're over 21 and an adult and often getting out of college and truly on your own but not so old that you are tied down.

I don't know if I agree through. I am older than that and like where I am in life now. I don't think there really is a golden age.

I'm not sure.....my friend was 23 last year turned 24 a few months ago but she says it is the same whether she's 23 or 24. She said there's no difference.

There was nothing particularly golden about my 23 year of life, other than the fact that I was blessed to have survived it. So, I must be out of the loop, too. (Othewise, 23 would seem to be "golden" only if you died at 25, God forbid.)

I'm 23... It's almost over... and there was nothing golden about it... so I have no idea.

All downhill from there. Time will speed up and you'll be 30 before you know it.
