Are all pharm schools around the US getting extremely hard to get into? The reason why I ask is b/c i'm currently a sophomore at uconn with little hope of getting in since my gpa is an embarrassing 2.6

Hopefully after this semester I can get it up to a higher 2 or even a 3 but nowhere near what the pharmacy school at uconn wants. I told my adviser and the pharmacists I work with that I'm going to take a year to take the courses that other schools want and apply the following year.

How would my chances be of transferring to an out of state pharm school be? I feel like this is a considerable risk by taking 1 year to do this b/c if i don't get in..then i would have to settle for something like dietetics.

And the reason why my gpa is low is b/c i didn't take college seriously my first year..but now everything is getting better.

Ouch, a 2.6 is not very good. Howwever, where there is a will there is a way. You might want to check out http://www.pre-pharm.info and get the book to increase your chance of admission to pharmacy school.

If you move outside of the state, it won't matter. The schools are still going to see your grades. You might want to consider retaking some classes over and apply to more schools or you can do something else that my friend did.

Again get the book, read it and email the author. He is friendly and willing to answer your questions

Even the least selective pharmacy school has an average incoming GPA of about 3.2. Most public schools will give their state residents preference on admission.
You can retake some classes which you got a C in.
There's no guarantee an OOS pharm school will accept you.
