My 7 month old desperately needs a schedule. He is not napping well in his crib, up many times a night and is CRANKY! We always had problems with him napping in his crib, but it is getting worse and worse and now with him not sleeping well at night, we are desperate! I read No cry sleep solutions, Nightime Parenting, and the Baby Whisperer. Am thinking about trying the EASY shedule, pick up/put down method from the Baby Whisperer. Am wondering if anyone has tried this for an older infant and did it work for you? I don't believe in crying it out. I just want my baby to sleep!

I have used the EASY routine and it has worked well for my daughter. It is about creating a flexible routine of eating, activity and sleeping that is right for your child. I don't believe in CIO either, and this method is really geared toward getting to know your baby and following his or her cues to encourage good sleep. Daytime and nighttime sleep really work together... you just have to find the right mix.

I'm not sure what the pick up/put down method is but I'm guessing when the baby cries you pick them up to stop the crying and then put them back when they are calmed down to sleep, right? That sounds good. I never let my baby cry either. My daughter used to take naps out in the living room on a blanket. That way she didn't feel she was missing out on anything and she would take good 2-3 hour naps. I think the noise of life around her actually helped her sleep. Good luck!
