No running lights, no brake lights, both blinkers went on with left or right truck blinker on. Put jumper cable from truck to trailer and everything works but the running lights.

Standard 4 wire Ford pig tail on truck. I think the brown wire is supposed to be for the running lights but I cant get them to light.

Anyone got any suggestions??

I'd say the running light fuse for the trailer wiring has blown and that truck has seperate fuses for the trailer lights. look in the owners manual for their location, but I think they are under the hood. Fix the ground wire on the trailer and/or the truck to correct the other problem>

Once you measure battery voltage on the brown wire when the vehicle lights are on, check for voltage at the trailer lights and replace the bulbs. But all the connections have to be good and low resistance, or the power can't get to the trailer bulbs. You've got to have A plus connections as you found out with the jumper cable ground.

White = Ground

Brown = Tail, License, Sidemarker, Clearance & I.D. Lamps

Yellow = Left Turn & Stop

Green = Right Turn & Stop

there is not any reason you "shouldn't" do it yet because of fact the different poster observed you have a optimum 2,000 trailer weight shrink so which you quite do no longer want something extra suitable than a 4 way for a small utility or boat trailer.

Open the truck hood.
There is a small 20 amp yellow fuse in the power distribution box that has blown.

If it's good, then you need a new headlight switch.
