A trout fisherman, I used to put worms in them and kept the can in my pocket -- forget them once and mom wasn't too pleased when she found the source of a rank odor was coming from the wash. (been there about a week)

Yes, I do. I also had a rolling machine which I could put filters in and roll my own. I think they were Raliegh.
I have never heard of anyone keeping their worms or fish hooks in them, but what a good idea.
I just said to my husband, " I guess tobacco isn't harmful to worms" He laughed and said, " I'm sure he(your father that is) dumped the tobacco out.
I feel so blonde:~)

Certainly do! My father actually smoked the stuff, along with another brand called Edgeworth [same flattened shape & flip-up lid, only blue in color]. Remember the cutaway coat Albert was pictured in, and also a mustache & beard. Anyone remember what the tin's color was?
Ancient father recollections also include: shirt-studs for dress shirts [the "boiled front" tux type]...pipe-cleaners that came in a yellow cardboard envelope-type thing...Bay Rum for after-shave foo-foo...and cigarettes that came in flat hinged tin boxes of 50 [box was called a "flat fifty"]... oh yes, the shirts daddy wore to work during the week were sent to a Chinese laundry and returned all folded in a box, each shirt with a blue paper strip around the middle.

I do indeed seeing those cans in the grocery store. When I was a young teen, getting together with my girlfriends for a pajama party, we used to pick names out of the phone book & call & ask people if they had Prince Albert in a can. I think you know how the rest of it went. ~lol~

Yes. We, as kids, use to make prank phone call to stores and ask, 'do you have Prince Albert in the can', when they said, 'yes', we yell, 'then let him out', hanging up the phone and laughing silly.
I also use to roll the tobacco for my Mom.

Yes and I remember kids that would call a store, ask if they had Prince Albert in the can. When they were told yes they would yell, " well let him out."

My father in law used to roll his own cigarettes, the first time I saw him smoking a home rolled one I was shocked that a 80 year old man was smoking pot! Then I found out it was just plain tobacco but he did his own rolling

Yes, I remember lots of folks rolling their own cigarettes and rubbing snuff from those little tin cans.
