Take it as flattered. It's a win-win for all involved. The clerk makes sure he's not selling to anyone underage, so the store doesn't get a fine. You get a compliment.
I'm 47, and have a 3 year old and another on the way. If someone says "what a lovely child" I'm flattered. If they say "Your granddaughter is beautiful" not so much.
As long as they *ACCEPT* your ID and don't confiscate it claiming it's not your picture (happened to me once when I was about 23) smile and have a great day.

I'd be flattered, you must look very good! I got mistaken for a 20 something yesterday despite being 38, but the comment was about me losing hair, so not so flattering.

Please be flattered. After I retired and got bored, I took a job in a supermarket , as a checkout operator.
If you sell to somebody who is under-age, not only does the store receive a hefty fine, the checkout operator also receives a fine.
When you are in your late forties and somebody thinks you are in your early thirties, you will be very pleased.
You should point out to your partner, how lucky he is to have
such a young and attractive (The two go together.) lady.
P.S. Hope you enjoyed the wine, sorry about the score!!!!!

Hot mama! Flattered all the way. You're lucky you still look young enough to get carded. Good for you, because when you're 40 you'll look 30.
Cheers!

I'm nearly thirty too, and a teacher. Other teachers and students often think I'm just another student when they first meet me. I know it can be frustrating when a kid at the grocery store who is 17 is asking you for your I.D., but it's pretty cool when they look flabbergasted and are like, "no way!" I totally think you should be flattered! Other women would give their forehead wrinkles to be you! :)
