If you've read my previous poems, you know I love my brother a lot! His 3rd birthday is on Saturday, so I wrote him this poem, what do you think? His name is Dallas.

Happy 3rd

3 whole years, passed so fast,
and you still know I care.
Your soft and smooth hands,
now worn from the adventurous games you play.

The day has finally come,
I no longer consider you a baby.
You're now my boy, my growing boy!
God it's hard to say, but you've gotten here to quickly!

Though you are just my brother,
I care for you as if you were my own.
You are now on a journy, that I feel I no longer can help you with.
Growing up. I love you and wish you the best of luck.

Poems don't have to rhyme.

Thanks so much!
I was wondering if you think he would understand it, or if I should just hold it off until he's older?

I think a poem for a 3-year-old should rhyme. I mean, he's certainly not old enough to appreciate abstract art. If you want to get him interested in poetry, you'll need to make the words appeal to his ears. 50 gazillion books by Dr. Seuss can't be wrong.
