Write it on something controversial as this will be easy to research and you can get several different views.
or
If you have done a novel in English such as Of Mice and Men, talk about one of the characters in depth, or the themes of the novel. Or if you have done An Inspector Calls (these were both my GCSE texts) talk about how the Birlings react differently and about their family interaction.

i had to do it as well, just do something you know the best, at the time i knew about pc's, so i ask the it techs at the school if i scould borrow a old pc, took it into the classroom and just showed everyone the parts, made most of it up but got a A for it anyway, lol. Just do it on something you feel you are better at then all your friends, even if it is shopping, find out the origins. Or do it on a hoilday, your culture, a t.v program i.e simpsons, hope something has clicked by reading this, p.s do not get nervous it is the worst thing you can do and keep looking around.

If you want to make it look like you've done a lot of research, pick something topical. Then get on that internet and look at different newspapers and how they report it. You could look at liberal/democratic/republican view for example. If you are in Britain, good contrasts are The Times (conservative) and the Daily Mirror (Labour) to see how the reporters look at stuff. If you decide on something else, say, the Russian Revolution, you had better have some books/websites already. Don't sweat it. If you pick something you really like and are interested in, your enthusiasm will come through.

Write about something you're passionate about. Check out 60 minutes tonight and take notes on an episole that they report on. From there do your speech on that.
Good Luck. When I was in school...I loved these type of assignments, I loved going to the front of the class and giving speeches. Once you do it...you'll love it. I suppose it was because when I was talking...people were listening.

Use a subject you are interested in, then it will be easier to remember, like a hobby or what u want to do after school, so even if u forget what u want to say, u'll be knowledgable about the subject anyway
Good Luck

Do it about something thats interesting and something thats not something everyone else will write about. Write about something you know a little bit about, and expand on your ideas using internet research.
Anorexia?
Madeline McCann Case?
Obesity?
Global Warming?

well, there are many things to write it on...:
1) you can write about something you like. For example...if you like sports, write about that.
2) you can write about a current event
3) you can write about your family, or something like that
***i think it is easiest to write about something you like, because you know a lot about...
hope that helps!!!
