It's not, because they don't... They don't care one wit about the troops or this country... they only care about keeping their sorry buts in power.

because if you look at the reports some soldiers have been killing people. and there have been similar reports from every war of individual soldiers or small groups raping and killing innocent people.
it happens sometimes.
people are so into the troops that they won't mention the fact that there are some bad apples.

and sadly in war civilians get hit. whether or not we try to minimize civilian deaths are up for argument.

and the war is lost- it is not winnable. it never was.

Good question. It's not supporting the troops. It's supporting their own political agendas. Wonder what they're thinking now that the violence is down in Iraq? How are they going to spin this? I'm sure they'll find a way to take credit for it.
***Add: A perfect example of lefty thinking is answer #1: make excuses and rationalize all statements made by "your people". If you can't, act like you have no idea what the actual quote is.....

Add #2: Murtha was talking about soldiers who have since been EXONERATED of the charges. Explain this away you spin doctors. Yet he REFUSES to say he was wrong and this is supporting our troops?
Ohiofire: Again....follow along closely......the marines in question were found NOT GUILTY!!!!! Murtha made the remarks before any trials, he tried them in his own head before any of the facts were known. Just because he served valiantly in the past does NOT excuse this behavior.

THESE BOZOS WILL NEVER SUPPORT THE TROOPS.
I GUESS THAT IN THE RUN UP TO THE WAR PRESIDENT BUSH WAS ABLE TO MANIPULATE THE BRITISH, RUSSIAN, EGYPTIAN & OTHER INTEL REPORTS TO HIS OWN PURPOSE. WHAT A BUNCH OF CLOWNS.

There are marines who were ordered to fire on unarmed civilians. They didn't know, it isn't thier fault.
It supports the troops when we recognize the atrocities of war. Any soldier who's seen a friend die will tell you war is atrocious.

If you've never seen any of your friends being shot, you probably just don't understand.

Want me to explain how things went into slow motion for me, as I watched a friend riddled with bullets? It's atrocious.

War is not good, this one especially.
We need our soldiers out of harm's way. Bush Sr.'s depleted uranium is hurting our troops there. Not good. If you support our troops, then let's bring them home.

PEACE

some of them - those who kill innocent UNarmed civilians, including babies and women, are just as bad as murderers stateside.
for that matter, just as bad as murderers all over the world. Look at the entire picture and stop trying to make it appear as though Murtha was talking about ALL of them.
Besides, and again, some of them are killers.
And some of them are coming back to the states with the same sick mindset.
(btw) the US doesn't cover it unless it hits stateside and they can't put their spin on something that everyone has heard about.
But.
Since so many have gotten away with it, you can believe that random killings are still going on, that they were always going on and that for some troops, it's just a game.

I will never forget an early interview with several US troops headed for Iraq. BEFORE the invasion even began.

They high fived each other and giggled...

"Let's
go
kill
us
some
Iraqis"

is what they said.

How pathetic.

What we must continue to worry about then, five years later, (notwithstanding 911) is that there isn't some group, waiting in the wings, right here in the United States, but looking like the rest of us,shopping like the rest of us, living in the next town..... who are saying the same thing.

but
are
referring
to
americans.

Think about that.

There was a wedding taking place in Iraq, and as is the custom, the partiers shot weapons into the air.

We dropped bombs on the wedding party, killing everyone, because we believed we were under attack.

Mistakes will happen in war, but remember Murtha has served his nation and is a triple amputee for his efforts, and has been viciously smeared by those on the right who resent him using his first amendment rights to openly question the policies of our government.

You sound as though you wish to silence critics of this war?

Why not join the rest of the 70% of Americans who now realize this war was a mistake?
