well, you could just go with the dictionary definitions of "conservative" and "liberal" and leave it at that... i personally think it has more to do with religion and the fact that most conservatives are just plain mean.

Hmm, did you read the entire article, it says minorities are less likely to feel safe sending their kids out since they live in lower income communities, I dont know how you transformed this into Lib and Con, however I would say that since some Christian conservatives dont celebrate Halloween, to answer your question, that might be the reason.

Safety issues.
In my community, the churches have block parties with "trunk or treats" and the firehall has a party. The local businesses host a Maze where candy is given. The malls give out candy. House to house trick or treating is becoming outmoded.

Consider the Conservative mindset for a moment.
"Trick or Treating" is "Negotiating with Terrorists" as defined in the Patriot Act. Not too hard a stretch: Masked people coming RIGHT TO YOUR DOOR to threaten you! Either give them what they want, or they will attack and desecrate your home, leaving you feeling violated and used, because you wouldn't "bow down" to their "demands" for candy and treats.
No self respecting Con could EVER agree to negotiating with those who would use fear to change someone's behavior, would they?
Hell they won't feed em, house em, or school 'em, but you think they should at LEAST give 'em candy? Wouldn't that be considered a "Hando Out" to lazy shiftless Americans who are too lazy to go look for a job?
Denying children treats at Halloween is just being a good Republican.

They're trying to conserve candy for just the poor kids.

Democrats believe in "sharing the wealth". Go to Hillary's home, you will get a "black-n-white"label candy, and not a Snickers.

It says nothing about giving out candy.
You know, not everybody celebrates Halloween.
Not everything has to be political.

Because liberal children go around the block 4 or 5 times with their hands out.

Maybe it is because they equate the trick or treaters with beggars and they are not going to let loose even a few cents to make it a happy occasion. What is this world coming to? Tsk,Tsk.
