He says I am his best friend but I am scared that we will get too close and I will hurt him. I trying to get in to med school and I do not want any distraction. I really like him but I just not sure. He is 22 and I 21. I think we are very young. He wants to be a pastor. I want to be a doctor. Our careers are different. Any advice?

Absolutely tell him!

Sit down and tell him what you have said here. Lay it all out on the table and see where it goes from there.

I think it's great that you are taking the time to consider your future and recognizing you don't want to rush into anything.

Good luck!

You have some very valid reasons to not want a committed relationship at this time. You told us why; now tell him. When you're giving "bad" news, use the Sandwich method. Tell him something good about your relationship first. Then tell him why you're not ready for a committment. Then tell him something good, such as how you treasure his friendship and how you might be ready to move to a new level later on.

Tell him exactly what you have written here. It's clear and concise and straight to the point.
