I'm looking into buying an electric guitar, problem is that I don't know which brand to look into. Everyone has different opinions so I never get a straight answer, so can someone give me a brand they use and tell my why they like it. Thanks a lot

Go to an independent guitar shop (Not one of the big chain stores) be up front and honest with the people there about your wants. Don't pretend you know something your don't. Most locally owned shops will work with you on getting a good deal on a guitar you will be comfortable with. If you feel any pressure, run, don't walk away and find another shop. A good used guitar can be found for $200.00 to $400.00 dollars with case. Don't be against taking some lessons.
Find an instructor that will work at your pace and only do want you want to do (They ARE out there). You don't have to go once a week or more...maybe just once every one or two weeks until you get enough basic skills to go out on your own. I took 8 months of lessons about every one and a half weeks for thirty minutes. This gave me the basic information needed to feel comfortable with playing covers and my own stuff. Just remember try and get some practice EVERY day.

It's basically a guess or check thing. Do you like fixed bridge, or non fixed bridge?? My boyfriend likes fixed bridge cause then it's easier to change the strings, however, not all people like a fixed bridge! There's so many choices out there, it's hard for us to tell you which one to play!
My suggestion to you, is what my boyfriend does. Go to Sam Ash, or whatever local music store is close to you, and pick up a guitar and start playing them. Go through each brand until you find the one that YOU want. That's what they are there for! Good look.
The only brand I really do not care for at all is Fender, other than that I pretty much like them all.

Gibson is one of the best overall guitars. They make acoustical as well as electrical.

Why - Les Paul ws famous for his Gobson, Robbie Kreiger of The Doors has a signature model. He used both acoustic and electric, six and 12 string Gibsons exclusively.

There are Fenders but I would not rate them with a Gibson

A fender Stratocaster is fairly inexpensive, can produce a wide variety of sounds, and is pretty easy to learn on. And because it is such a popular guitar it is easy to find them used at your local guitar shop

Listen to your favorite guitarists. Find a sound you like, then buy the guitar they use for your first one.
