My teacher says i have to write a book report of any book i choose, but it has to be something i havent read yet. im in 8th grade, and im not sure what to read (and write) about! I already plan to read a song of ice and fire over the winter, and the report's due around thanksgiving. Any ideas?

P.S. It has to be at least 300 pages long (my teacher says its okay if its like, 289, or something)

John Steinbeck is a good writer for someone your age. You'll probably read Of Mice and Men in school at some point, but you might introduce yourself to Steinbeck with such books as Tortilla Flat or Cannery Row. He's a very readable writer, yet socially important. And the length of these I've mentioned is about right too. Grapes of Wrath is probably too long but that is certainly a book you'll want to read at some time in the future.

Have you read "The Hobbit"? Everyone knows "The Lord of the Rings" and the Hobbit is where it started. Good for a try.
