Considering that 99% of what we see today is derivitive of what has gone down in the past, it is of no surprise that you would be interested in the original version. I only came into an appreciation of the music of the 40's after I was in my 50's! Movies...I have always loved the good ones, old or new...the problem today is, there are very few good ones..someone, somewhere decides what will make money at the box office, and here it is "follow the tired and true"....movie after movie is nothing but the same movie! TV is no different, except in the past two years, I have seen 3 new programs which are fun..."The Closer," "Saving Grace," and "Pushin Daisies." OF the three, so far, "Pushin Daisies" is by far the most entertaining, and "The Closer" is the best crime program on the air.
Most of what we thought was so good in the past hasn't held up with time. But I suspect that most of the great movies have already been made...every so often I am surprised, but very rarely. Technology is another matter all together, for what is good today will be better tomorrow...it moves so fast that there is no way to always have the lastest and greatest, for it changes by the hour.
As for me, I prefer to watch something I have seen that is very good to that which I haven't seen and is not good...I bore easily, and for the most part, TV is boring. Realtiy shows are not reality and are just stupid. Sit coms, with the possible exception of "Samantha Who" are predictable and stupid, all following formulae developed in the 50's and 60's...."Monk" had a very real chance at being very good, but it was thrown away with too much emphasis on neurosis...got old fast. Strange that the big networks are supplying so much trash and it is the smaller ones who are doing the good work. HBO and Showtime have all had fantastic series ... OZ, 6 Feet Under, Queer as Folk, Sex and the City...all great in their day!
Love and peace, Goldwing

NO!!! You are definitely not weird. You sound like someone that appreciates that what happened in the past is relevant for the future.
Old things are interesting and just because you are only 18 does not mean that you should not be interested in old things.
Perhaps you are destined to be an historian or something along those lines.

No, it's not weird. I am 37 and I am just crazy about the old episodes of the Twilight Zone...which stopped being made about a decade before I was even born.
There are lots of cool shows, books, and other media from all time periods. I wouldn't say that it is strange to like these at all.

Not weird at all. Too many teens are only interested in the "here and now".....without knowing or caring how it all came about. Just shows that you're more open to things....and that's a plus for you!

You're not weird, there is much you can learn from those things. Don't shut out the 'here and now', but add what you find from the older things to it. Keep your love of learning and you will do well in life.

It's not weird. The best way to prepare for the future is to learn about the past. That goes for all catagories in this world.

No, it's not weird at all. When I was very young I always leaned toward music, movies, etc much much older than I. The 'old' folks then used to say I had an old soul! :-)

Without people like you who would appreciate and teach others. We may be old but we also like stuff from before we were teenagers too. So no different. Do what you enjoy and do it well.
