What do you think about the negative portrayal of blacks in the news media?
I have done reserach but it is incomplete because white crime is not reported. The media wants everybody to believe that blacks are a welfare group who wants to blame the white race for enslaving it. I have research this topic and have found that peope who work for the news media are told that negativity sells. They distort the truth and this is very sad.

Dickn200 you ask dfor some example.
Let us go after the Jeana 6 since you brought that up. Jessie Jackson and al Sharpton are ranting and raging but in this case they were right the criminal Jutice system is bias and the charges didn't fit the crime and the hanging of the loose is a hate crime. Why was the other boys not charge with anything?
Other examples are in Akansas Alot of white crimes are not reported and the black on white crime like what happended at Little rock central high were a another high school was lighten the central mascot and it the flames fell on this black guys car. The media called that a race riot and the guy states rather they been black or white he would hAVE FOUGHT THEM BECAUSE HE MOM HAD BOUGHT HIM THAT CAR FOR HIS SENIOR YEAR.

It is important to remember that those who write and report are also people who must look through the lenses of bias. I say this because, people are the product of the messages they received growing up. Quite often, people are able to look beyond the stereotypes that they have learned in the assessment of specific groups of people. However, in the majority of cases, they resort to the thinking taught in their youth in situations that present them with issues they have yet to learn how to handle. So, it is easier for them to fall into a familiar pattern of judgment (or fear of being fired ) without second-thinking the request from a superior who may very well not know any better, and is actually reacting based on the biases instilled in them through the years.
The fact that you questioned this is proof positive that people have a chance to do better if they apply thought and reason in their decision-making.

Please site some examples for me and others who participate in this forum. You have made a blanket statement without siting examples for us to compare.
I don't think that Michael Vick received negative coverage, he pled guilty. O. J. Simpson's accomplices have told all to the police. The media just reported what the cops told them.
The Jena six were given every break with Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc. flooding the media with their rhetoric. The one Jena 6 defendant was re-arrested on other pending felony charges.
Or what about the rapper who was arrested on weapons charges. He was caught in an FBI sting.
I live in Atlanta and I watch the 6 o'clock news every evening. The vast majority of crimes in Atlata are being committed by blacks. That isn't negative coverage... it's statistics!

it is true that negative news sells..but as a former news reporter... that has never been a factor in deciding what news to cover. as far as welfare group,,,the media knows that there are more non-blacks on welfare. as far as negative portrayal... of blacks... there are enough blacks who need no help in obtaining a negative image..as well...as whites and any other race. the way the news story is presented may not always be fair. some people are shown on tv with faces covered.. others have their faces pasted everywyere..all day.. every day. right out there. some police agencies in more affluent neighborhoods and suburbs cover up activities in their areas or fail to release info entirely. unfortunately a majority of people white..black or otherwise who commit...offenses..find the need to blame others for their actions instead of themselves. and finally todays slave masters.. are the drug dealers... and they come in all shapes..sizes and colors. just like the modern day slave comes in all colors .. you cannot be used..unless you keep putting yourself in the position.

Perhaps the negative portrayal of blacks is because the majority of crimes in our area is committed by blacks and Hispanics. In Nashville there is a rash of teenaged blacks murdering store owners and doing drive-by shootings. Our newscasters are just telling what's happening.

are not to any extent further blacks to blame for his or her own project in simple terms as you or I are? They cry racism for any all of their shortcomings,it truly is in no way their fault and they assume others to fix the topics for them...or they'll variety you a racist for no longer GIVING them a residing they covet yet refuse to pursue on their own initiatives. until eventually highway gang is an occupation. The "portrayal"of that you communicate is an instantaneous mirrored image of what the final public of blacks in u.s. are all about. Thugs abusing women and animals, dope, violence;between them and the mexicans this u . s . a . should be a finished cesspool by 2050...even if it continues to be round it truly is. i imagine they deserve their 'detrimental' photo contained in the media.

Perhaps you should look at the conviction rates of blacks compared to the conviction rates for whites who commit the same crime.
juries are more likely to be majority white,
judges are more likely to be white
prosecutors are more likely to be white
district attorneys are more likely to be white
white suspects are more likely to be able to afford good, competent attorneys

Let me tell you something else, it pisses me off that NASCAR has never had a black driver before now. Am I wrong? What's up with that? Seems to me they would sell more tickets if they quit being so racist.

i don't think they are portrayed any worse than whites.
Although statistics do show there are more blacks in prison than whites - which is strange, because there are more white people in the US than blacks.
