I am 38 weeks and 3 days. I am excess amount of fluid and the doctor has told me I am unable to leave my surrounding area due to this. She is scared my water will break while in the car and have no one with me and have to get to the hospital alone. The problem is I have to travel about 3hrs today round trip alone. I have no choice I have to pick up my other child from visitation with his father. My husband will not go he says he is tired and refuses, so you all think I will be ok and do you have any suggestions for me for me as to how to make this trip a little easier?

I love your answers. My ex lives 4 hrs away and my mother lives close to him and is getting my son for me. She can't bring my son to me this time and I understand she has been traveling a lot since I became pregnant. My husband now really does not understand just how far along I am and that I have too much fluid. My doctor said since I have this much the minute my water breaks I have to be in the ER due to the complications that could arise. I am not very happy about this but if I bring it up my husband gets mad. A rock and a hard place.

hmmm... does your husband know your pregnant? and will be having a baby anytime now?

well just think positively you will be home safe....

don't drive to fast and make sure your cell phone is within your reach and if the worst thing happens just pull over and call for 911.

You have got to have a friend or family member that can go with you. If not, try explaining to your husband (as if he doesn't already know) that you are pretty far along in the pregnancy and would not want you to drive by yourself and possibly go into labor.

If he is so tired that he can't drive, why doesn't he just ride shotgun. The important thing is that someone is with you.

Can the other child's father meet you half way or something? There's gotta be another way.

Maybe you could ask a friend or relative to pick up your child for you.

Or, if you have to make the trip, take a cell phone and a big bath towel, just in case.

is there reallyno other person who could do this for you? your doctor is obviously concerned about you doing this long trip on your own! what if your waters breakl and labour comes on quickly? are you prepared to give birth in the caralone in the middle of no where away from anyone you know??? you really need to think about this!!!

You should be fine but I suggest you take a cell phone with you and stay on main roads only. If something were to happen you can flag down help!
Good luck!

Why can't your ex bring your child back home, or meet you halfway?

No other friends or family can drive you?

I'd also kick your husband's butt. He should be as invested in your pregnancy as you are. What a jerk.

tell your husband to stop being lazy, if he cares he'll drive there for you, or at least with you to make sure your okay. (",)
