I have a Troy-Bilt 21 in. 0650 series push lawn mower with a 6.5 hp Briggs & Stratton engine. It starts fine and then stops at regular intervals. You have to prime it again and then it will run a while and then stop. I have replaced the spark plug, the air filter, changed the oil and no change in performance. What should I try next?

Before you spend much money on it check the primer bulb. The often develop a small crack or pinhole. This would fit your symptoms perfectly. The hole allows air to get sucked into the fuel line.

There is defiantly a fuel problem most likely a dirty carb. Especially on a Briggs motor there are small jet ports in th carb that get clogged from dirt or stale gas it causes a build up inside th carb. It is relatively easy to do but if you are a bit Leary of doing this yourself take it to a shop should run you about 40 bucks to have the carb cleaned but if you are smart get the machine serviced fully usually around 90 bucks for a full service IE plug air filter oil change blade sharpened and a carb cleaning.

With the hard work you have already put into this machine, there is only one thing left, the fuel system. Have the carburetor cleaned, and that's the only potential problem by your symptoms described you haven't already addressed!

Sounds to me like dirt in the carburetter or a blocked jet in the carburetter.

Sounds like it's not getting gas.. Maybe it needs to be cleaned?? Try using premium gas in it..
