I have three kids, 7 years old, 5 years old and 4 years old, and I wouldn't allow any of them to watch any horror movies. I'm not taking the chance of them getting frighten from a movie and not being able to sleep at night, and having them climb into my bed because they are scared, I think at 7 years old is still young. : )

I have a 7 year old son. I wlet him watch a semi scary movie ( i think it was one of the CHucky movies). He was fine during the movie and even that night. Then a couple days later he had a pretty bad nightmare and it freaked him out. So no more for him. Now, having said that, EVERY child is different. And u as a parent know ur child best. If its gonna be a big deal between u and the father fighting over it, I'd bite the bullet if I was you and go ahead and side with the father. Your 7 year old seeing yall fight over it might be just enough to make her react bad to the movie if she wouldn't have already.

I have never seen the origional Halloween. But my guess is no. I am going to try to keep my kids innocent as long as possible. Watching people get gutted on TV isnt at the top of that list. Movies have ratings for a reason.

no, I wouldn't let them, gotta put my foot down with a 7 year old, but thats my own personal opinion,,and my older child, I don't want to watch those shows either, but it's a struggle when two parents don't agree on that kind of thing
just noticed the details,..(about her dad) and that stinks, the 7 year old is watching movies that disturb her, against her will? arhhhhhhhh
maybe she can go watch spongebob upstars when the scary movies are on?

It depends I would let my daughter watch some scary movies as long as there wasn't a ton of sex and she wasn't scared of her own shadow. Halloween has some sex I think and that would be inappropriate for a 7 year old. I would be concerned about that more than violence.

Nope you aren't the bad guy! I would not watch it myself so I certainly would not let a seven year old watch it* There's enough scary bad stuff happening out in the real world I don't have to watch or fantasize about it*

Depends on the child. I'm beginning to let my boys (ages 8 and 9) start watching horror movies with me and Halloween was one of the first because it is more suspenseful and not so gory. It really does depend on the kid and her mind frame. If she understands that it's all fake - it probably wouldn't be so bad, but if she is prone to nightmares and such, I wouldn't let her watch it.

He's an @ssclown and she can't see it. Auntie Madam says so. I was astonished that the Exorcist was on television yesterday....I fumed all afternoon. Age 17 is to early for my taste, some are ready at 12-13 but not at SEVEN. I will come kick his butt for you.

I wouldn't, but my nephew is only 5 and he's been watching scary movies since he was 3. I don't agree with it, but I'm not his parent. He doesn't seem to be afraid, but I still feel he's too young.

Okay, the father evidently doesn't know what he's talking about. Those movies are not for kids. Even some adults can't handle them. You did right.
