Big words like what? When I was in college, the head of my department hated me, and did everything he could to wash me out. But I noticed that every time I used a big word in my language or a paper, within 2 days it would be part of his vocabulary. I was amazed at how many times that man managed to say "behoove" in a week.

Nope. They actually impress me, because it means that the user of big words has some intelligence. A dictionary actually serves a practical purpose in cases such as these...
