Everybody, I'm thinking about people who were born disadvantaged in some way or another (birth defects, drug-addict parents), not regular Joe Schmoes who took out too much on a credit card or a sub par mortgage.

Those born to troubled parents don't get the same start as others.

Some people are born into a "raw deal life", and rise above it and make a good life for themselves. Others never venture beyond the raw deal. You can find generations of familys who have lived on public assistance. Some of them think food stamps and welfare is free, but nothing is free. The price of food stamps and welfare is poverty. However, some people are content to live like that and never journey beyond that. There is opportunity for everyone in the USA. If someone is born into a violent family, with drug abuse, alcohol, sexual and physical abuse it is hard to imagine a person like growing up to be a well rounded human being, but it happens. Once you are an adult, you have choices, so even if they come from a raw deal life, they can change it if motivated to do so.

A lot of this can be based on the decisions we make and actions we take with our lives. For example, when my father was my age, he wore dentures. I don't, all my teeth are natural. Both of my parents smoked at my age, but I don't.

The choices we make define what happens in our lives. So if you think you got a raw deal in life, they were all your choices that got you there.

many may have a hard live. but it all depends on how you look at live. there will always be those worse off than you so look for those you can help rather than dwelling on your own problems

I believe we make our own "raw deals"....and we're responsible for either turning them around or indulging in self-pity
