Our 2002 VW Jetta wagon (not turbo) just had the engine light start blinking. The manual says its the catalytic converter. Any info on this? How much will it cost to fix? The car doesn't seem to be getting gas so I think that is the problem but I don't know anything about cars.

the catalatic converter is part of your exost system so thats probebly not the problem, the lack of fuel could be caused by dirty fuelinjectors, a bad fuel pump, or cluged hoses. first check the fuse panel for the fuel pump and if the fues is good buy a bottle of stp fuel injector cleaner and if it still dosent work then bring it in

YOUR SHOULD GET YOU VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED TO FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE PROBLEM IS FIRST AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE SOME IDEA WHAT TO EXPECT.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE TREATED MORE LIKE A PERSON THAN JUST A NUMBER.

ALSO MANY CONVERTERS ARE WARRANTIED FOR AS LONG AS 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you "don't know anything about cars", maybe you should have it towed to a mechanic.
