It will not lower your sperm count. It is a different kind of steroid than the ones that are notorious for doing things like that. Besides you would have to take the steroids for longer than 3 days anyway.
The reason for the steroid is to give your immunity a quick boost before the surgery. Just take it as prescribed and there wont be any problems.

Hello

No I don't think so, but if you're not sure you can always ask your doctor.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking prednisone and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:

Prednisone has some other side effects like these for examples:

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
increased blood pressure (severe headache or blurred vision); or
sudden weight gain (more than 5 pounds in a day or two).
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take prednisone and talk to your doctor if you experience

insomnia;
nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset;
fatigue or dizziness;
muscle weakness or joint pain;
problems with diabetes control; or
increased hunger or thirst.
Other side effects that occur only rarely, usually with high doses of prednisone, include

acne,
increased hair growth,
thinning of the skin,
cataracts,
glaucoma,
osteoporosis,
roundness of the face, and
changes in behavior.

Prednisone taken short term will not make you sterile. But be sure to follow directions for tapering off if the doctor tells you to. I knew someone who had been on prednisone for about six months. Then she had surgery and the SURGEON said to stop taking it because she didn't need it anymore. After she passed out (and generally felt like she was dying) she went to her family doctor who basically said surgeons are ill-informed about medications, and a 4-6 week tapering period was necessary. After only three days it may be okay to just stop, but check with a pharmacist or a doctor who is not a surgeon.

Beware the weight gain.

I was hospitalised for extreme idiopathic thrombocytapeania (low white blood cell count) over a weekend and drip-infused with steroids. The result appetite stimulus, and constant eating meant a 13 kilogram gain in 3 days.
A further 3 months of daily Prednisone orally ingested tablets did nothing to diminish the hunger . Two years later I've yet to shed the weight.

Just modify your food intake and good luck with your surgery.

even if it were to lower your sperm count, i don't think 3 days would quite do it...not to make you sterile.
