Did anyone else notice that annoying fan behind home plate who waved his towel and shook it side to side every time the Red Sox pitcher got ready to pitch a ball???????

It was maddening watching it.

Why do they allow this behind the plate???? It seems rude and childish!

I mean if you have to resort to distraction then your team must be bad!

I am surprised he didn't get kicked out actually because doing stuff like that usually gets a complaint from the visiting team and then a warning to the person doing it....I have seen stuff like that before but it usually only last an inning because the person gets warned...oh well...didn't seem to effect the Sox at all...one win away...Go Sox!!

Yeah, I saw that, the guy twirling the towel. The umpires should have stopped that. The fans hollering, the noise, the towels in the stands are one thing but trying to distract a pitcher is pretty classless.

The umpires CAN stop that - hell, they've ejected organists for playing "3 Blind Mice" after a questionable call. And they should put a stop to that. Let the play be between the lines, not some jerk in the stands.

And while you done got me all fired up, I really hate to see those damn cameramen running along the basepaths with the players. Keep the field for umpires, coaches, groundsmen, players and the like. I hate to see those jerks on the field - it's like having someone taking a video during church.

You don't see it (fans trying to distract a pitcher) at Fenway behind home plate, but I, too, hate the cameras on the field during plays. It would almost be worth it if JD took one out (without injury to himself) while still making the play.

The guy behind home with his white rag simply made people watching at home notice how big a loser he was, while the pitchers pretty much managed to ignore him.

Tell me about it. The whole stadium was doing that. It's pretty standard behavior. And yes, so childish. When did just cheering go out of style? When the Angels were in the series back in '02, the whole stadium had those tall, red balloon sticks and would bang them together and wave them all around. Now that was annoying.

Home team fans try to distract the visiting team all the time! Is this the first sporting event you ever seen?

yea, but that is half the reason why home field advantage is such an advantage

it doesn't matter anyways, we still won
