15' X 50' X 4"
15' X 50' X .3333' = 249.98 cubic feet
249.98/27 = 9.26 cubic yards

When estimating concrete you need to measure the area you will be doing. Next you take the width multiply by the length multiplied by the thickness in feet. For 4 inches just take 4 divided by 12 = .33 so take 15x50x.33 and you will get 247.5 cubic feet. There are 27 cubic feet in a yard so take the cubic feet divided by the number of cubic feet in a yard. 247.5/27 and you get 9.16 yards. Typically by rule of thumb you add a 1/4 yard on to the total so you have enough as stated that it doesn't all go in the forms and its not all uniform. I would actually order 9 1/2. A call back is a spendy load. Up here in Minnesota you have to order a minimum of 1 yard if you run short, then you have to pay a huge small load charge, and a fuel surcharge as well.

PPE,
the answers above all show you the correct math for your 9.3 cu. yd. estimate, but remember that not all that concrete ends up inside the forms. There is always some waste and your forms/diggings are never that accurate. So plan on ordering at least 9.5 cu .yd. of concrete. Its always better to have a little more than you need than to run a little short during a concrete pour.

the estimate is correct.
Volume Calculator
Use this calculator to find the amount of concrete, cement, topsoil or water you need for a rectangular solid shape when you know the length, width and depth.
Length: meters centimeters yards feet inches
Width: meters centimeters yards feet inches
Depth: meters centimeters yards feet inches
Volume:
= 7.079211648084951 cubic meters
= 7079211.648084951 cubic centimeters (cc or ml)
= 9.259259250792592 cubic yards
= 250.00000000000006 cubic feet
= 431999.9999999999 cubic inches
Most often, when you order concrete or large amounts of topsoil, orders and deliveries are done in cubic yards (which are often just called "yards

15x50 x (4/12) = 250 cubic feet.
1 cubic yard = 3x3x3 = 27 cubic feet.
9.3 x 27 = 251.1 cubic feet.
Looks like that is the right amount.

(15x50) divided by 4"/12"=250 cu ft
1 cu. yd = 27 cu ft
250/27= 9.3 yds
Simple, huh?
