okay i'll just go ahead and give you the official answer it is not illegal to use but it is illegal to use to download illegal songs so like you can download stuff so long as it's not copyrighted (good luck finding one of those) but the odds are stacked in ur favor if you do download illegally there have been over 20 people arrested for pirating and stuff like that but the uploaders are the ones who really get it bad so far only 1 downloader has gone to court and had to pay 1000$ but the odds are in your favor and the guy who had to pay 1000$ was using torrents not limewire

Limewire use, of itself, is not illegal. However, you can get in trouble for downloading copyrighted materials from that service. In other words, watch what you download. There are tons of things you can DL from Limewire which are legal. (Of course, those aren't the things you WANT.)

No, using Limewire is not illegal. Sharing copyrighted materials with it IS illegal.
Equivalently, it is not illegal to drive a car. It is illegal to drive it at twice the posted speed limit.
What is illegal is how it is used, not the fact that it can be used at all.

It is illegal to download, thus downloading things from Limewire is illegal.
It depends, if you're unlucky, you'll get caught.

yes, but if the majority of americans do it, it automatically becomes legalized! thats democracy. just kidding. most people who were sued by the music industry were uploading songs, not downloading songs.
