the underground fences can be set up to any shape yard you have. You can even set up multiple zones. There is a lot of digging involved so that your wire doesn't come up durning yard maintenance (approx. 4 to 6" depth).

Most important part is the training. It takes about 3 to 5 weeks of daily training to teach your dog where the boundaries are. Without the training, your dog will "take the hit" to get past the boundary. Some of the things you have to train the dog are how to escape the shock properly, fear the tone and retreat when it goes off and how to ignore out of boundary interferences like kids, other pets and animals.

If you're willing to invest the time and energy into it, they are extremely effective. If you expect to lay the wire and let your dog loose... expect it to be confused, fearful and possibly aggressive. It can't see the fence, all it knows is that it's receiving pain for no reason.

Good luck.

i have 2 dogs on an invisible fence. my property is an abstract shape, the company that sold it to me installed it and also gave my dogs 5 lessons of training. it works very well. Invisible Fence is the name of the company. cost depends on the size of your property.

PS-get the model with a back-up battery in case of a power failure.

Training is the most important part. I had an Austrailian Sheperd that didn't care about the shocks.
