The effectiveness of partisan resistance in WW2 was not great, until the retreat of the German army from Russia.

The French resistance was most effective in WW2 because they helped smuggle Downed British and American bomber pilots to safety. Also theyhelped escaped prisoners of war to safety. Just befor D-Day they blew up train tracks--lighted drop zones for paratroopers--cut Communication lines and so forth!!!! the resistance would sometime ambush small German Patrols if possible and in general made Germans occupying France use manpower to chase after them.. Two good Movies that show the resistance and their help are the Longest day and The Great Escape!!!!!

They were very effective in the Soviet Union but the biggest single success was when the French Resistance surrounded thousands of German soldiers trapped in France by the rapid Allied advance in August !944 and the germans pleaded with the Allies to take their surrender as they did not want to be captured by the resistance
