family values, sexual-abstinence, gay issues, just say no to drugs, and what else....? their stance on all issues are so unrealistic that even they can't abide by them! so the chances of a republican to be a hypocrite is higher?! right?!

what are standards good for when they are not practical?! ideally you may wish there was no gay people but there are! ideally you want people to say no to drugs but it isn't practical and that is why you can't even abide by your ideal standards!

I know, aren't Republicans evil for aspiring to high standards rather than abandoning themselves to their baser instincts...........

It is clear that people fail all the time. That doesn't make the effort hypocritical or not worthwhile.....

yes
define republican:

Typically a person who believes that:

The 2nd Amendment of the Constitution takes precedence over the rest of the Constitution.

The rich and corporate america should be tax-exempt, and that the middle and lower classes should have to foot the bill, also, a person who bitches when an under-funded government agency is unable to carry out its assigned task.

Thinks that programs such as welfare, medicare/medicaid and minimum wage are unconstitutional and should be banned.

LABELS everything and everyone they disagree with as being "Communist" or "Anti-American" or "French."

Someone who supports the rights of the unborn, but won't fund stem cell research that could help the millions who are already here. The first one to protest abortion rights, and the first one willing to take a life through capital punishment.

Someone who espouses personal freedom, and then tries to pass constitutional amendments to restrict it.

Someone threatened by government surplus but unphased by government deficits. Someone who is pro-business but anti-citizen.

Someone who wants to take away the helping hand, after he's made it to safety in her/her own endeavors.

Hypocrisy seems to be an epidemic among politicians from both parties. The difficulty is trying to please all voters and all of their concerns. A politician, for instnace may not like guns or the NRA, but he, or she cannot afford to anger such a strong interest group. There are literally thgousands, if not millions of voters that will cast a vote based on how a candidate stands on gun control, abortion, gay marriage, religious freedom, whatever, even though most politicians have very little personal power over such issues.

Actually, the Republican high standards seem to be for everyone else but themselves. They believe in "Family Values", but they have the highest divorce rate and the highest number of single moms in the Red States. They believe in "Morality," but excuse immorality and corruption in their President, his Administration, and in their Congressmen. The only ones they won't forgive are the Gay Congressmen. Cheating and stealing and lying are okay.

They believe in abortion then cheer the murder of civilians in Iraq. Heaven only knows how many orphans that tragic and unnecessary war has left behind. They believe in having babies, but deny children health care. They believe in education, but cut off Head Start and other educational programs and slap it to the college students in high interest student loans. They believe in Frugality, but their President has run the National Debt into astronomical figures.

We won't have so many staunch Republicans among our Answers crew, once they discover they will have a lifetime of taxes to pay off that debt.

How are Democrats hypocrites? Let me count the ways....

1. Global Warming: Al "The Earth Has a Fever" Gore boldy states that humans should be living in thatched roof houses and using manure for building materials, yet Sniffles there flies around in private jets, polluting the skies, and lives in a mansion that consumes 4 or 5 times the energy in one month than most American homes use in that same period. I won't even mention all the Hollywood types, the politicians looking to get reelected and various other hangers on who follow this idiot around, lauding praise on him and not changing a thing about their day to day lives but buying carbon credits out the yin yang to make themselves feel like they've made a difference.

2. Affirmative Action: The black person needs the help of the Great White Hope in order to get ahead. Gov't must pay for this. If it weren't for white people and gov't, the black man wouldn't stand a chance. It's so unfair!

3. Bill Cinton: I did not have sex with that woman. Nuff said.

No, in fact being a Democrat makes you a hypocrite.

The Democrats have been around for about 230 years and have not changed at all. The party originally started as the Democratic Republicans and shortened it's name to the Democratic party in the 1830's.

If you read Georgia's letter of Secession it is plain that Democrats made the same claims about the Republican party a hundred and eighty years ago that they make today.

Democrats are pro-slavery, anti civil rights and they are always pretending to be friends with minorities so they can either imprison them or oppress them just as they oppressed blacks and communists in the United States.

Take the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), the commie black listers. Obviously Senator McCarthy never sat on a House Committee, yet, this commie black listing is called "McCarthyism" because of Democrat propaganda. This committee was organized and primarily controlled by Democrats that had close ties to the KKK.

In fact many Democratic candidates for public office have been selected at KKK meetings.

Today the Democrat rhetoric against Iraq is verbatim the rhetoric against the US Civil War.

You are welcome to believe your uneducated propaganda and re-writing of history, but, the Congressional record has not been re-written yet so anyone with an internet connection can read the truth.

hey, maybe you can re-write the Congressional record like you try and re-write history!

PS: I see why people who answer your questions hide their e-mail addresses. Do you have the ability to stay focused on a topic or are all your e-mails so.....distorted.

There is actually research on a known pathology called Right wing Authoritarianism that goes to explain part of it. It has been shown that trauma and early child abuse cause compartmentalization such as is easily seen with Mark Foley who actually wrote the law he broke.

While homophobia is more Gang Of Pirates even among Gay homophobes, nobody supports Child Molesting but that seems to be a GOP thing as well, with amazing numbers of Republicans at every level of government caught doing so.

But the key fact is that people do not support the real GOP agenda, and if they ran on eliminating Freedom, breaking Democracy, maiming the government so it could not help or defend anyone, and stealing everything in sight, they would not get any support, and would get considerable opposition.

So instead the GOP follow Leo Strauss's Neocon two tiered agenda, one that is hidden and spoken only among themselves, and another that is situational and fake and only designed to affect the behavior of others.

This is a real conscious disingenuous doublespeak as opposed to the Foley or Craig compartmentalization that is real hypocrisy .

Yes it is. True Republicans stand for things and believe in standards. Democrats do not have standards and their acceptance of bad behavior shows it.

The only reason this is true is Republicans are the ones who believe in standards.

Yes because Republicans exploit emotional issues of intolerance just to get votes. They have absolutely no intention of either abiding by what they preach or implementing any of their moralistic ideas. We saw just how much progress they made on those issues when in control of Congress and the White House.

no, because groups like elf, enviromental liberation front, burn and destroy the enviroment to protect it. moveon pushes a liberal, tolerant adgenda yet try and punish petraeus and call him a liar before he even speaks to congress.they want to attack talk radio but the market truly determines the shows. both sides are hypocritical to some degree on several issues. so in general, you are not right.on some specific issues, you have a point but it applies to both sides.

sort of seems that way. Though I think everyone is a hypocrite on the life issue. (Generally) Democrats don't like the death penalty and Republicans don't like abortion. If you follow their reasonings on why they don't like the practice of X, it really should follow to the other. Rarely does it.
