Use the regular unleaded ( 87 octane ) for all lawn mowers. The only reason to use higher octane would be for higher RPM motors, like chain saws or raceing engins.

Always the lowest, unless there is a knocking (which there won't be on a lawnmower). Higher level gasolines do nothing. The level only means it's ability to spontaneously combust in only pressure and no spark (IE., 87 is more likely to spontaneously combust in pressure only than 97), which is why it is for high powered cars (whose engines are under higher pressure than 90% of the other cars on the road). Since most cars/lawnmowers/ anything with an engine doesn't run at a high enough pressure for this to be a factor ALWAYS USE LOWER. It's cheaper and accomplishes the same thing.

most small engines are designed to run on the lowest required octane level of 87 you would only be burning up $ if you put in a higher amount it makes no difference in engine performance

If it works in a car it will work in a mower. You can either pay for the Premium or pay for the low grade...the performance of the mower won't change.

Use 87 octane. Higher octanes can burn up the valve(s). They are not needed.
