No. THe sum of a triangle is 180 degrees. An obtuse angle is more than 90. A right angle is 90. If a right triangle were to have an obtuse angle, the sum of the measures of the angles would exceed 180 degrees, and therefore it would not be a triangle at all.

An obtuse angle is an angle greater than 90 degrees. Angles in a triangle add up to 180. A Right angle is 90. Subtract 90 from 180. In a right triangle the other two angles cannot total more than 90 degrees. Therefore a right angled triangle cannot have an obtuse angle.

Hi,

Think for a minute on what it means to have a right triangle. First off, a triangle total angle measurements add up to 180 degrees regardless of the type of triangle you refer to. However, in a right triangle, there's always going to be a right angle which is equal to 90 degrees. Therefore, the other two angles in the triangle need to add up to 90 degrees since 90 + 90 = 180. However, an obtuse angle is an angle that's more than 90 degrees. Therefore, one or more of the other angles can not possibly be more than 90 degrees since we would not even have right triangle anymore!!!!

I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Sincerely,

Andrew

no it cannot. A right triangle has to consist of a 90 degree angle and two other angles. If there was an obtuse angle in there as well, just two of the angles would add up to more than 180 degrees. This leaves out the third angle which is essential to make a triangle. Therefore it is impossible

You mean a "right angled triangle"?

Well no, coz an obtuse angle would require >90 degrees.

Assume the angles of a right angled triangle are x,y and 90 degrees

x+ y + 90 = 180
x + y = 90

here we can see that the remaining 2 angles of a right angled triangle can only have a maximum of 90 deg combined. Hence its not possible for either angles to be obtuse.

No. In any triangle, the sum of the angles has to be 180 degrees. A right triangle means one of the angles has to be 90 degrees. That leaves 90 degrees for the other two angles, so they have to be acute, meaning under 90 degrees. Obtuse means an angle over 90 degrees.

No, a right angle by definition has one 90 degree angle. All angles in a triangle must add up to 180 degrees. An obtuse angle is greater than 90 degrees. By definition, 90 degrees plus 91 degrees would not only equal more than what makes up a triangle, but it also leaves out an angle!

No, an obtuse angle is always greater than 90 degrees, if you have an obtuse angle then the other two angles have to be acute angles.....and the sum would always be less that 90 degress eg. 120+30+30= 180 degrees

For a right angle triangle the sum of the other angles will be always 90 degrees...hence a right angled triangle can never have an obtuse angle.
